Birth Doulas

A birth doula is a birth expert who will nurture you every step of the way through your pregnancy, labor and those first couple of hours after the baby is born. Imagine having someone by your side to help you learn your options, give you resources and discuss the benefits, risks and alternatives of everything pregnancy and birth related.

Our team works hard to stay on top of best practices, current research and time-tested wisdom. We will provide evidenced based information so you can confidently make the best decisions for you and your family.

Nothing in life is one-size-fits-all and birth is no exception!

Prenatally, we will come to your home to go over stages of labor, benefits and risks of interventions and teach you and your partner hands-on comfort techniques. Hiring a birth doula is like having a trusted friend, coach, birth educator and more right there in your laboring space. It just so happens to be a birth expert who truly knows you and your preferences!

Postpartum Support

Postpartum Doulas are experts in the fourth trimester. They not only know newborn babies, they know what happens in your body, heart, mind and relationships during the transition of growing your family. Having a postpartum doula means you will know what’s typical and what isn’t, what to do when your baby is fussy and whether your physical recovery is on target. You will know you have the support that every new parent needs and deserves!

Here at BuxMont Doulas, our postpartum doulas are trained and prepared to walk alongside you during this season we call postpartum. Your postpartum doula will help with tasks such as caring for and  feeding the baby while you sleep, shower, or spend time with your partner or other children. They will also help with washing bottles, light housekeeping or laundry.

A postpartum doula provides infant feeding support, resources and education to help you feel informed, empowered and safe.

The Fourth Trimester is the first 12 weeks of your baby’s life outside the womb. It is a beautiful, challenging, overwhelming and rewarding time. While help around the house is a relief, the most important part of our role is you! Our postpartum doulas hold space for you during this transitional time in your lives. We provide resources and support that is lacking in our culture. Trust that when you come home, our doulas will be there to assist you during your physical recovery from birth. Whether this is helping with physical relief from the pains of childbirth or observing your incision for signs of infection, our doulas are trained to know what normal postpartum healing entails.

During your postpartum period, we know emotions run high. With each shift, we take the time to connect with you. We listen to your story, we learn about your achievements and your struggles. We help you put systems in place to make life with a newborn easier and more fluid. During these conversations we are keeping watch for signs of Perinatal Moods & Anxiety Disorders. No matter what, your doula will be there to help create the space you need to process your birth, postpartum journey and adjustment into parenthood- whether it’s your first time becoming a parent or your fifth!

Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta encapsulation is an ancient Chinese practice intended to aid in the healing and recovery of a mother after childbirth. We follow the Traditional Chinese Method for the process. This includes cleaning it, steaming it, dehydrating it and then gridinging it into powder which is put inside capsules for easy consumption.

Consuming one's placenta is believed to have the following benefits:

placenta pills
  • Increased milk production
  • Quicker postpartum recovery time
  • Balanced hormones
  • Relieves postpartum blues
  • Boost in energy!
  • Decrease in effects of postpartum depression and/or anxiety
  • Decrease in effects of PMS
  • Increased iron levels

We pride ourselves on being thoroughly sanitary and adhering to OSHA guidelines regarding blood borne pathogens, infection transmission, food safety handling, and sanitation. All of the materials used to encapsulate your placenta are disposable or thoroughly sanitized between use.
